In exploring our new hometown, my fiance, Lee, and I have been sampling the local restaurants lately, and there’s certainly no shortage of tasty treats to try. Last night, we visited The Linkery in North Park, on the recommendation of a friend back east. Known for supporting independant and local farmers and serving fine handcrafted dishes, The Linkery is a delight of simple cuisine that simply sparkles with flavor. We began with a small salad of mixed local organic greens, tomatoes, and carrots with a lime vinaigrette dressing which was superb.
For the main course, I chose the burger, grass fed and pastured beef topped with a pastured chicken egg (I was skeptical about this), house cured bacon, gouda, and a house-baked bun. It is served with garnish of tomato, greens, pickles, and a few chips, but the burger is certainly a meal in itself. Served medium rare as the staff recommends, the burger was juicy and delicious but the bacon, cheese, and bun hold thier own in the flavor department. Even the egg had me convinced by the end of dinner. Lee opted to enjoy one of The Linkery’s signature links in the sausage tacos. Habanero Pork links served with pinquito bean and nopales salad. It’s here that the restaurant really shines, the links are truly scrumptious, melding with and contrasting the flavors of the taco perfectly with just enough spicy kick. The portions were just right, so you’re not taking home half your dinner like at most eateries, and the prices were fair.
With fresh, local, and organic ingredients, hand-crafted foods, a friendly staff, and great atmosphere, the Linkery will definitely see our return visit.
